We provide every exceptional student with an appropriate individualized education plan (IEP) and encourage the participation of parents in the educational process. BEA provides education for Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our classroom placement is based on age and functional level. Some classrooms implement more than one curriculum at the same time depending on where the students' academic and/or functional levels are. We target what we feel will most benefit a student, whether they are a child, adolescent transitioning into adulthood or young adult.
At BEA, our comprehensive curriculum covers core subjects including English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Science. To ensure students truly grasp each concept, our teachers craft creative lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods—such as individualized learning, differentiated instruction, tech integration, game-based activities, and small group instruction. Some classrooms also utilize block scheduling to allow deeper focus in each subject area.

Our Community-Based Instruction Program empowers students to build essential daily living habits, a strong work ethic, and a sense of independence. The curriculum covers key areas such as employment training, financial literacy, personal health and hygiene, daily functional skills, home care, and basic culinary arts. Rather than just teaching concepts in the classroom, our educators create practical, scenario-based learning opportunities for skill mastery. To bring these lessons to life, students take part in weekly community outings that allow them to step out into the neighborhood and put their newly acquired skills into practice.
Our school has proudly used the Learning Without Tears program for years, and the results speak for themselves! Each lesson incorporates music, technology, and tactile manipulatives that make learning enjoyable for students and staff alike. Fine motor development is a frequent hurdle for many of our students, but daily practice through this program has led to inspiring growth in both their foundational pre-handwriting skills and overall handwriting.
